Cranberry Jell-O Shots Will Help You Really Get Sauced This Thanksgiving
Cranberry sauce is often the much-debated afterthought of Thanksgiving dinner — some people have their tried-and-true, long-simmered sauce recipes that have been handed down for generations, but by and large, many of us just wriggle the gelatinous sauce from a can, serving it like a log on a plate that people can carve by the slice.
It's the easiest dish to prepare by far, but also, it's not much to look forward to — at least in that state.
This year, we wanted to pay homage to the classic dessert, reimagining it as a boozy way to liven up your Friendsgiving party. We were inspired by A Beautiful Mess's outrageously gorgeous Jell-O shots, so we wanted to try our own version, lightening the cranberry flavor so it isn't as tart, and using regular vodka over an orange-flavored one.
For a sweeter shot, you could also use whipped cream-flavored vodka.
For a stronger shot, you could use two cups of vodka to chill the Jello, instead of half-vodka, half-cold water, but fair warning: People may cap off the shot by shaking their heads and whimpering, "It burns us, precious" a la Gollum, instead of toasting to your awesomeness.
Experiment and make them your own. Then prepare for people to demand you make them every year. Consider it the tradition your family's been missing.
