Every Prosecco Lover'S Dream? 30,000 Litre Tank 'Explodes' Creating Giant Fountain Of Sparkling Wine
For fans of fizz, a giant Prosecco fountain might sound like a dreamy situation and it would be fair to admit you've fantasised about bathing in your tipple of choice.
But for the owners and staff at a winery in Conegliano in the Italian province of Treviso, it's anything but a dream.
One of their 30,000 litre fermentation tanks filled with sparkling wine has burst, causing the beverage to spill out and flood the area.
Dramatic footage of the incident was captured by an employee and shared online.
According to The Drinks Business the cause of the incident, which is believed to have taken place last week, is currently unclear.
However it's likely that the tank had been over-filled or the lid may have developed a fault.
If the explosion had occurred at this time in 2017 the company may have been in serious trouble, as a series of bad weather meant there was a risk of a Prosecco shortage last year.
But thankfully it didn't and with the heatwave that hit Europe this summer, there has been a much more productive harvest this year than there was expected to be - so hopefully all will be ok.
Prosecco fans on social media were very excited about the Prosecco "fountain".
One user said: "We need to pack up the rubber dingys and long straws and find this place."
Another commented: "Noooooo. If we were called, we would have drained the excess!!!"
A third added that they would dive under the fountain "like Niagara Falls".
A fourth wrote: "We cry together for the serious loss!!"
However not everyone saw the funny side of the situation - which truthfully could cause major problems for the business.
