Man Crush Mondays: 12 Things To Love About James Marsden

What’s not to love about James Marsden? (Seriously, what?) He’s multitalented. He’s gorgeous. (That smile!) He’s Liz Lemon’s husband. And even though I don’t need to go any further, here are 12 more reasons to be absolutely smitten with him:

1. Once upon a time while on vacay with the fam, James met Kirk Cameron and Candace Cameron Bure, who invited him to visit them in Los Angeles.

Was this what sparked his eventual move into acting? Hmmm…

2. He majored in broadcast journalism at Oklahoma State University.

After almost two years, he decided to move to L.A. to pursue an acting career (and women of the world rejoiced).

3. He was originally offered the lead role in 54, which later went to Ryan Phillippe.

Let’s imagine that for a minute…

4. He’s quite the singer.

He sang two songs in the film adaptation of the Broadway musical Hairspray, he sang a duet with Amy Adams in Enchanted, and who can forget his drunken rendition of “Bennie and the Jets” in 27 Dresses?

5. He once worked as a Versace model.

Annnd I’m spent.

6. He has three kids.

Two sons and one daughter, to be exact.

7. He doesn’t do mediocrity.

In a Men’s Health interview, he said: “I hate being mediocre. If I really want to learn something, I immerse myself in it. That consumes every ounce of my thoughts until I’m really good at it.”

8. He also doesn’t do first class.

Nope, James flies coach while traveling with his family. He feels he has a responsibility to let his kids know he isn’t special because of what he does, but who he is as a person. Swoon.

9. Get ready to have your mind blown: The character of Griffin on Party of Five was originally played by James.

Yep. How about them apples?

10. He auditioned for the role of Brian Fantana in Anchorman.

But we’re much happier with James as Jack Lime, Ron Burgundy’s adversary in Anchorman 2 — since you know, James and Paul Rudd in the same movie is everything.

11. His latest flick, The Loft, drops Jan. 30.

I’m so excited for this movie. One, see above. (Dayuuum.) Two, I realized I’ve actually been patiently waiting for this movie to come out for years.

Before binge-watching was as common as breathing, I managed to watch every episode of Prison Break, starring Wentworth Miller, in a single weekend (and by managed, I mean so-hooked-I-had-no-choice-in-the-matter). Afterward, during my severe Wentworth Miller withdrawal, I did what any self-respecting woman would do: I creeped his IMDB profile to find out what he was working on next — and stumbled across The Loft.

When I checked out the cast list and found out James was starring in it too, I was all…

Let’s just say I already have my seat picked out at the movie theater.

12. And finally…

Can I be Cinderella?
