This 'Game Of Thrones' Star Is Defending The Show'S Sex Scenes And Nudity
If you watch GoT, you know the show doesn’t shy away from nudity. Case in point: any scene with a brothel (and there are many, especially in the early seasons). But a couple of the most talked about nude scenes have involved the "Mother of Dragons" herself Daenerys Targaryen, played by Emilia Clarke. She did, after all, emerge from a blazing fire unburnt and without her clothes in season six.

Of course, though, she’s gotten flack—same with any woman who’s done nudity on screen. In a new interview for the December/January issue of Harper’s Bazaar, Emilia rallies back against the haters who criticize the show’s on-screen sex (or just keep bringing it up over and over):
“I’m starting to get really annoyed about this stuff now because people say, ‘Oh, yeah, all the porn sites went down when Game of Thrones came back on.’ I’m like, ‘The Handmaid’s Tale?’ I f*cking love that show, and I cried when it ended because I couldn’t handle not seeing it. That is all sex and nudity. There are so many shows centered around this very true fact that people reproduce,” she adds. “People f**k for pleasure—it’s part of life.”

It’s not the first time she’s defended the show's nudity. When the aforementioned "unburnt" scene came on screen, everyone went crazy. Apparently, some people thought she was unclothed too often. That wasn’t the reality: “I’d like to remind people the last time I took my clothes off was season three. That was awhile ago. It’s now season six,” she told Entertainment Weekly. Still, she was more than proud of her time spent on screen without any clothes, thank you very much. “But this is all me, all proud, all strong. I’m just feeling genuinely happy I said ‘Yes.’ That ain’t no body double!”

And two years ago when a Daily Mail article alleged that Emilia “can’t stand” sex scenes, she took to Instagram, saying: “In drama, if a nude scene forwards a story or is shot in a way that adds insight into characters, I’m perfectly fine with it…If it’s gratuitous for gratuitous sake, then I will discuss it with a director on how to make it more subtle. In either case, like a good Mother of Dragons, I’m always in control.”
All we know is that we can’t wait for Daenerys to dominate in the final season—but the waiting is killing us.
