The Way This Boy Reacted When A Young Girl Started Her Period On The Bus Will Warm Your Heart
It might be years, even decades since you started your period, but I'm sure you can still remember the cyclone of emotions and the confusion that came with it.
Officially entering puberty is a daunting thing, never mind how it feels to start your period for the first time in a public place. But for one young teenage girl, that's exactly what happened: on a bus.
Thankfully, she just so happened to be sitting next to a young boy who, rather than mocking her and giving her an unnecessary complex about her natural bodily functions, knew exactly how to deal with it.
The nameless girl's mother took to Reddit to share exactly what happened.
"My daughter started her period on the bus ride home today," read the post.
"A boy a year older than her, that she doesn’t really know, pulled her aside and whispered in her ear that she had a stain on the back of her pants and gave her his sweater to tie around her waist so she could walk home off of the bus.
"She said she was kind of embarrassed and originally said, 'It’s OK', but the boy insisted and told her, 'I have sisters, it’s all good!'," the Reddit post continued.
The mother of the young teenage girl shared the post in the hopes that the mother of the boy might see it and find out how grateful she is for his response.
"If you are this boy’s mum, I want to say thank you and that you are raising him right!," wrote the mother. "We hear so many bad things about today’s youth and I wanted to share something positive."
With periods being surrounded by such stigma, we'll have more young boys with attitudes like this, please. It'll make for an easier world for women in future as they grow older.
