3 Reason To Have A Let'S-Stay-In Date
Going out on dates is fun, but sometimes staying in on them is better.
This weekend TallDarkandHandsome and I had out first let's-stay-in date. We watched a movie, laughing during some scenes, making out during others. We cooked dinner together and left the dishes for an even better dessert. He told me how he wore a visor (every day) when he was a kid, and I sang him "Squirrel, Squirrel, Shake Your Bushy Tail" from days as a Brownie.
All in all, it was a perfect date. Although I already knew a lot about him going into the date, I knew so much more about him—and us—after it. Why? Because let's-stay-in dates give couples a real chance to learn about each other, connect, and grow.
Here's why, for an intimate evening, a let's-stay-in date is the way to go:
Talking is Easy
Restaurants are noisy, bars are even noisier, and people throw popcorn at you if you talk at the movie theater. Staying in gives you permission to have deep, candid, stay-up-all-night conversations. And aren't those the best ones?
There Are No Distractions
It’s just him, you, and (hopefully) some chemistry. Sink or swing time. Cooking dinner together, playing a board game, or just talking for hours over a bottle of wine lets you really interact and learn how you fit together as a couple.
You Can Be Yourself
Without the pressure of planning an out-of-this-world date, he'll feel like he can let go a little. And without sky-high heels, so will you. Make yourself really comfortable by suggesting he come over to your place. Being on your own, familiar turf with all of your stuff (makeup included) will make you feel, well, at home.
