Watch Dr. Pimple Popper Extract A Medley Of Inner-Ear Blackheads
• In a new Instagram video, Dr. Pimple Popper removes a cluster of blackheads from a patient’s inner ear.• Dr. Lee uses a tool known as a comedone extractor to reach otherwise inaccessible areas of the ear. • Even an apparently clean ear can develop blackheads as if dirt, dead skin, or shampoo clogs the skin.
All of us carefully and attentively wash our ears—right? It’s probably not something you even think about. But even a well-maintained ear can become a haven for blackheads. In her latest Instagram post, Dr. Pimple Popper—aka, dermatologist and TLC host Dr. Sandra Lee, MD—goes to town removing blackheads from a patient’s inner ear.
Lee carefully scraps the inside of her patient’s ear with a comedone extractor—a metal rod with a loop at the end—applying pressure to unclog the blackheads. “You’re gonna feel lighter after this!” she exclaims. The amber, earwax-looking substance she removes is likely a combination of oil, dead skin cells, and dirt, according to Healthline. The buildup of hair products, such as shampoo that’s not rinsed away, can also clog inner ear pores and lead to blackheads.
Inner ear blackheads can be a tricky problem. An exfoliating face wash used alongside a retinol cream can remove blackheads, as dermatologist Joshua Zeichner recommends. But that may not work in the hard-to-reach areas of the ear. So if they remain an issue after a few days, seeing a dermatologist may be wise—or, as Dr. Lee suggests, practicing with a comedone extractor until you can do it yourself.
