There'S No Such Thing As The 'Little Black Dress' Of Dicks
When it comes to penis sizes, conventional wisdom says that bigger is better—within reason, of course.
But new research published in the journal PLOS One found that women actually prefer different penises for different experiences.

For the study, researchers recruited 77 women over the age of 18 and had them analyze 33 3-D erect penis models, as well as which they would prefer in certain sexy moments.
Women were given specific (and kind of hilarious) questions and then asked to pick the corresponding penis they’d prefer in that situation.
Example: “Imagine you're single and you're out at a restaurant with some friends. You meet an attractive man who is also single. He seems kind, intelligent, funny, and has a great job. You are feeling sexually aroused. He says he's in town for a conference but he has to fly back home tomorrow afternoon. If you could spend only this one night with him, what size would you want him to be?”
Researchers also wanted to gauge what kind of penis women would prefer in a long-term relationship, so they asked, “What would be the ideal size for a husband or serious, long-term boyfriend?” Clearly something that’s on a woman’s top five lists when deciding whether someone is a good partner material.

(Worth noting: The women weren’t told in advance that they would be spending their time judging fake penises, but they were paid $20 for the experience.)
As you can imagine, researchers discovered a slew of interesting findings.
Women preferred that a guy have a slightly larger penis for a one-time fling (a 6.4 incher with a 5-inch circumference) vs. a long-term S.O. (a 6.3 incher with a 4.8-inch circumference).
And (bizarrely) women were asked to ID penises that seemed more likely to have an STI—and the majority wisely declined to answer that one. (The 16 women who did answer it picked the 6.2-inch penis.)
Also worth noting: Twenty-seven percent of women said they ended a relationship after their guy’s penis size didn’t measure up to their expectations (mostly because his penis was too small).
Researchers theorize that women prefer a slightly bigger penis for one-night stands because it’s probably different from what they normally see.
But their explanation for why we like slightly smaller penises in a long-term partner is kind of amazing:
“Women may prefer a smaller penis size in a long-term partner compared to a one-time partner for reasons of both physical comfort and a preference for less masculinity in a longer-term partner. The difference in pleasure motive is also suggested by genital physiology. A larger circumference might stretch the vaginal opening such that the deep structures (clitoral crura and vestibular bulbs) are more stimulated, and the clitoral glans is more stimulated by penis movement. Also, the vagina is densely packed with pressure-sensitive mechanoreceptors that detect stretch sensations. These appear finely tuned to detect variability in circumference.”

It’s worth pointing out that the difference between the one-night stand penis and marriage-worthy penis is only 0.1 inches.
And while the man makes the penis (and not the other way around), it’s also nice to know that there’s a lid for every pot.
