The Most Popular Names For Girls And Boys In Ireland This Year

The most popular names for girls and boys in Ireland reflect children who are four-years-old this year! Were their names influenced by any of the events that happened that year?

On May 2, 2015, Princess Charlotte was born. Her parents, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge William and Kate, revealed her full name, Charlotte Elizabeth Diana two days later…and we suspect a few more little Charlottes were born that year, maybe more than there would normally have been.

Other things that happened were the terror attacks in Paris, The Dress caused the biggest debate the world had ever seen (possibly) and Ireland said YES! to same-sex marriage.

It was also the year Uptown Funk was released (choon!), Taylor Swift debuted her ‘squad’ and Zayn Malik left One Direction.

But did any of these things inspire the most popular names for girls and boys in Ireland in this year? Not really.

If your child was born this year, did you name them something pop-cultural? Or does their name make the top ten lists for boys and girls? Let’s find out.
