Turns Out There'S Nothing 'Normal' About Her Vagina
In the words of Bloodhound Gang: some of them are hairy, some of them are bald, some are kind of scary and this is what they're called - Vagihaanna. Turns out scientists have just confirmed the popular 90's band's thoughts.
In the largest study of its kind, researchers delved into what other medical papers referred to when it came to 'normal' vaginas.
Measuring the inner and outer labia, clitoris, vaginal opening and perineum of 650 white women between the ages of 15 and 85, Swiss scientists found there to be so much variation that findings concluded there was no 'average' vagina.
Commentators hope this piece of news could reduce the recent increase in cosmetic alterations to the vagina that aren't medically required.
According to the American Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery, in 2017 there were 12,666 cases for vagina nip and tucks, more than double the amount of procedures in 2013.
According to a study published in the British Journal of Obstretrics & Gynaecology, the average depth of a vagina is 3.77 inches or 9.6cm. That compares with the average penis size of 5.2 inches in length and 4.6 inches in circumference, erect.
However similar to male genitalia, when aroused, the vagina can expand to between 4.25 inches and 4.75 inches. According to Go Ask Alice at Columbia University, during arousal, blood flows to the genital area, and sexual excitement causes the cervix and uterus to ascend as the upper two-thirds of the vagina lengthen.
